Hard Rubber Mouth Pelham
The hard rubber used in this Pelham allows less movement but is still thick and gentle. Can be used with double reins or Pelham roundings.
How to measure your bit:A correctly fitting bit should have a fingers width on either side of the horses mouth. To ensure your new bit fits correctly measure the length of the mouthpiece from inside of the rings, as illustrated below.
Rubber Bits
Stainless steel with rubber covering. Rubber covered bits generally have thicker mouths, making them softer and particularly suited to sensitive mouths. Available as mild, flexible rubber or treated with heat to produce a harder rubber which has a slightly stronger action. It is important that the horse salivates effectively using rubber mouthpiece bits.
Pelhams
aim to combine the action associaated with a double in one bit. It can either be used with roundings or with double reins to encourage refinement.
Pelhams are generally quite servere and should only be used by experienced riders.
